What is Chinese Medicine?
Chinese medical theory originated thousands of years ago through the observation of nature, the cosmos, and the human body. It has been continuously refined through more than 2,000 years of clinical experience by generations of Chinese doctors.

Chinese medicine incorporates a variety of therapeutic approaches including acupuncture, herbal medicine, tui na medical massage, cupping, moxibustion, guasha fascial release, medical qigong energy work, diet and exercise (including qigong
and tajiquan).

Acupuncture
Chinese acupuncture theory is based on the concept of Qi energy that flows through the human body in channels which can be compared to waters flowing in a river. Any disturbance in the harmonious flow of Qi and blood through the channels can result in an imbalance that creates pain or illness. The focus in acupuncture is to correct the imbalances by clearing away ant obstructions which will then promote the body's natural ability to heal itself. Acupuncturists affect the flow of Qi and blood by inserting needles finer than a human hair into small acupuncture points. These are sterilized and meant for one time use only. The process stimulates the release of neurotransmitters in the brain and natural pain killers known as endorphins.

Chinese Herbal Medicine
Herbal decoctions are used to treat a wide range of disorders. We offer convenient pre-concentrated herbal granules manufactured to pharmaceutical standards which have been tested for the presence of pesticides and heavy metals. Herbal formulas are customized according to the specific needs of the patient.

Moxibustion
Combustible herbs known as moxa are burned over an acupuncture point to generate a deep penetrating therapeutic heat. Moxibustion is commonly used for conditions made worse by colds.

Gua Sha
Gua Sha involves the scraping of the edge of a Chinese soup spoon or coin over the skin of the upper back and neck to release the fascia, breaking up stagnant Qi energy associated with stress or the onset of the common cold, and can quickly resolve these disorders.

Cupping
A vacuum is created to attach a glass to the skin to draw the tissue up into the cup. This can relieve stagnant energy at a particular point, and relieve severe muscular tension, reduce edema and increase blood circulation.
